Are you an experienced software engineer or software quality professional who wants to move beyond pure development and have a direct impact on the safety, reliability and certification of cutting-edge avionics systems?

We are looking for an additional Software Quality Assurance Engineer to the development and certification of embedded and avionics software within a highly innovative aerospace environment. In this role, you will ensure that software development activities comply with industry standards, certification requirements and internal quality processes, helping bring mission-critical products to market.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in DO-178C software assurance, while gradually broadening your scope towards hardware DO-254 and overall product quality processes.

Your responsibilities

As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, you act as a trusted quality partner for R&D teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

You will oversee compliance with development and certification standards, perform independent reviews, support audits, and help teams continuously improve their engineering processes.

  • You ensure compliance with software development and quality assurance processes for avionics products.

  • You review and approve software lifecycle documentation in line with DO-178C requirements.

  • You support software certification activities and customer audits.

  • You perform independent assessments of software development activities and deliverables.

  • You facilitate quality reviews and provide clear, constructive feedback to engineering teams.

  • You support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • You contribute to lessons learned activities and process optimization.

  • You develop and deliver training on software quality and certification practices.

  • You collaborate closely with software engineers, project managers, certification specialists, and customers.

  • You report to Quality and Certifying Manager.

Job requirements

Your profile

  • You hold a Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, Electronics, or a related field.

  • You have experience in software development, software quality assurance, or certification environments.

  • You have a strong understanding of software engineering principles and development lifecycles.

  • You have experience working with C and/or Python.

  • You have e strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.

  • Experience with DO-178C is a nice asset, or in regulated software environments such as automotive (ISO 26262), medical devices (IEC 62304).

  • If you are familiar with EASA, FAA or military aviation standards it’s a plus.

  • Knowledge of Aviation Regulation (Part 21 and Part 145) is an advantage.

  • You have experience with quality management systems such as ISO 9001 or EN9100/AS9100.

  • You have audit or review experience.

  • You have knowledge of modern software development and requirements management tools.

  • You work autonomously within a structured framework.

  • You can interact with highly skilled technical experts.

  • You have excellent communication skills in English and ability to challenge stakeholders constructively. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
